This free browser Color Palette Generator builds coordinated color sets using real color-theory harmony rules, rather than just picking random hues. Choose from random, analogous, complementary, triadic, split-complementary, monochromatic, or tetradic harmony modes, and it generates a palette whose colors are mathematically related in a way that reads as visually cohesive.
Each harmony mode targets a different design goal — complementary and triadic schemes for high contrast and visual energy, analogous and monochromatic schemes for something calmer and more unified — so switching modes is a quick way to explore different moods for the same base color. It's built for designers, developers, and anyone picking colors for a UI, a brand, or an illustration who wants a starting palette that already follows sound color theory instead of guessing at hex codes.
How to Use Color Palette Generator
- Choose a harmony mode from the dropdown — Random, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Split-Complementary, Monochromatic, or Tetradic.
- Click Generate (or press Space) to create a new palette in that harmony.
- Use the +/- stepper to change how many colors are in the palette.
- Hover a swatch and click the lock icon to keep that color fixed on the next generate, or click Edit to hand-pick its exact color.
- Open the Copy dropdown to copy the palette as a hex list, CSS variables, a JS array, or a Tailwind config.
- Click Export PNG to download the palette as an image.
